About
A small studio, deliberately
Holistic started from a simple observation: the organizations doing the most credible work were the least likely to be found describing it.
Nonprofits are exactly the kind of source search engines and AI assistants say they want to reward. They hold first-hand knowledge, they publish carefully, and they have no incentive to exaggerate. What they usually lack is someone to structure that credibility so a machine can read it. That is the whole job.
We keep the studio small so the person who audits your site is the person who writes your strategy and answers your email. We price against program budgets rather than agency rate cards. We write our recommendations so a volunteer developer can implement them, and we leave every account, document and roadmap in your name.
We also say no. If search is not the lever that will move your mission this year, we would rather tell you that over email than bill you for twelve months of proving it.
Let's talk about your mission.
A first email costs nothing and usually clarifies more than a proposal would.
Frequently asked questions
How big is the team?
Small on purpose. The person who audits your site is the person who writes your strategy and sends your monthly report. We would rather take fewer clients than build a layer of account managers between you and the work.
Where are you based?
Ottawa, Ontario, and we work with organizations across Canada in English and French. Most of our engagements are remote, and we are happy to present to a board or a committee over video.
What happens if we want to leave?
You keep everything. Accounts stay in your name, documentation and roadmaps are yours, and there is no long lock-in contract. Search work that only holds together while an agency is being paid was never real work.
